THE NEW AGE OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT: ARE MEN THE NEW VICTIMS OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT?

ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the sexual harassment of men in the workplace and ultimately answers the question of whether men are the new victims in being sexually harassed more than their female co-workers. To properly answer this question it is necessary to define what sexual harassment is due to the many interpretations and misconceptions for what constitutes sexual harassment. Research related to men being victims of sexual harassment is included as well as interviews in a workplace environment was conducted to find out whether there are differences among genders in what employees believe sexual harassment really is. In addition to research and interviews, information from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and their role during occurrences of sexual harassment is examined
Historically, it is shown that women have been primary the victims of sexual harassment cases. The question addressed in this research is: whether men have been sexually harassed and to what extent.
